The hospitality industry has undergone a minor revolution in recent years; many hotels now offer improved facilities and standards of service. Especially within the luxury hotel market we now have higher expectations and luxury is considered standard. Most guests now look for a little extra, it is also the reason I do not review hotels or restaurants too often, they need to leave an impression beyond a spa treatment or excellent cuisine.
The Kensington House Hotel manages to offer this in spades, the friendly service of a pleasant team which made me feel welcome throughout my overnight stay more than compensated for any lack of facilities. They always appeared happy to assist and any encounter or request was greeted with a broad smile.
An attractive boutique style hotel which appears like a 19th century townhouse with a variety of comfortable, compact and clean rooms. All the expected facilities are available in the rooms with good sized beds and small ensuite bathrooms. There was also an impressive choice of complimentary magazines covering a wide range of subjects in each room.
Importantly for most of us in the modern connected world there is complimentary WiFi in all rooms and public areas.
There isn’t a restaurant but the Tiger Bar serves coffee, alcoholic drinks and a limited choice of cocktails. It is also where breakfast is served in the traditional manner, prepared by the night porter prior to serving. Due to an early flight which meant leaving before service commenced I unfortunately did not have the opportunity to try this so cannot comment. I did witness it being laid out however and it made me regret having to leave so early.
Located just off High Street Kensington and within a short distance of the attractive Kensington Gardens it is the perfect place to explore Central London or enjoy a shopping spree.
The hotel has regular promotions and a nights stay is available from £120.00 per room which is very competitive for quality accommodation in London.
It is a relatively small hotel and does not have the more extravagant facilities of its competitors however the friendly, conscientious team which keep it running smoothly are a facility which many others lack. It is for this reason that the hotel stands out from the crowd, makes it worth considering for any stay in the Kensington area and is likely to leave a lasting impression.
